When I was in elementary school, my best friends and I dreamed up the idea to start up our own band (never mind that none of us had any musical talent).  I blame it on the Spice Girl phenomenon.

Our one week long dream started with planning what we would sing about and what we could call ourselves.  Of course, being the good Christian girl (really, just a goody-too-shoes) that went to church every Friday for youth group and sometimes twice on Sundays for worship, decided that duh, our music should be all about God. But then I hesitated.... wouldn't that limit us? Wouldn't that put us in a box and make us "different"?  Of course, by the next week we had moved on to just impersonating the Spice Girls (Girl Power!!), but sometimes that thought nags me. Did I want to be seen as a Jesus Freak (the popular term for the 90's- yea, we were so cool!),

It still nags me as an adult, because I sometimes that thought creeps back up. If I do something (like write a blog posts) about God, does that limit me? Am I putting myself in a box? Will other people put me in a box or dismiss me because I'm talking about God?

And then I read something from author Mark Patterson.  He basically stated that he writes now for only One audience-God, our Creator, our Father, our Lord. That's when I finally decided that I will too. So I won't be upset if no one else likes (or heck, even reads) my blog post, because I am doing it for me and for Him.

Now don't get me wrong, I would love to have others following in this journey with me. I love feedback and discussion. However, if I never get it, I won't let myself get upset over it. Either way, I'm not going to be afraid of what I post here- of what I share here.

I know that the month of May is not over quite yet, but before it was I had to share all the celebrations of the beginning of it

We kicked off this month with our first Kentucky Derby at our family's Tea Room. It was so much fun planning and hosting! And the food my mother in law/boss and sister in law made for the occasion was absolutely fantastic! It also kind of rocked to be able to wear a fascinator all day. 

Then, like so many other birthdays of mine, I spent many days celebrating with lots of friends and family (the best way I can)! 

We had family dinners and manicures, and a ladies tea day.

For my niece's birthday we celebrated pool party style. I still can't believe that girl is 9!

The birthday celebrations ended with a fun day off with my momma (for her birthday) exploring parts of city (and surrounding cities) that we hadn't before-- including Pollyanna's house (below). 

All in all, it's been a fantastic month with a lot.... and I mean a lot of cake!
